Looking for a place to practice your speaking?

Communication is a skill most of us only get to practice when the stakes are high. Perhaps you have found yourself explaining a report to your colleagues, motivating for a change in your company, or guiding a client through your financial services. It’s natural to leave wishing for a different place to perfect this skill—one where you can receive guidance, constructive feedback, and experience.

This session is professionals who wish to:

Practical & Interactive Growth

  • Practice Speaking

    No one listens to a lecture and instantly becomes a long distance runner or singer. The same applies to debate and public speaking; these skills can only be built through hands-on experience. With this in mind, all candidates will participate in at least two real, guided debates under the supervision of our experienced staff.

  • Practice Your Engagement Skills

    In the professional world, speaking is only half of the challenge. You also have to respond thoughtfully to questions and concerns, often on the spot. You will practice and refine these skills in our practical debate sessions.

Is prior debate experience required?
No public speaking or debate experience is required. Our training sessions at the start of the program will bring everyone up to speed.
How many debates does the program include?
Everyone will participate in at least two debates.
Is there recognition for top performers?
All participants will receive certificates.
When do we get the topics?
All topics will be made available at the end. No prior preparation is necessary.
How do the scores work?
Trainers will use the rubric available here: ndl.org.za/resources/templates
